Compliant with health & Social Care standards

HEALTH & SAFETY IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE:

The Alzheimer’s Society (2014) reports there are over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK today. Of these, approximately, 42,000 are people with young onset dementia, which affects people under the age of 65. As a person’s age increases, so does the risk of them developing dementia. It is estimated that the number of people living with dementia in the UK by 2021 will rise to over one million. Rates of diagnosis are improving but many people with dementia are thought to still be undiagnosed.

According to CQC :
A major review of dementia care demonstrated the unacceptable gap in the quality of care which means it is likely that someone living with dementia will experience poor care as they move between care homes and hospitals.

The Dementia Awareness course is designed for:

• New and existing employees in the care sector
• Any new employees completing the Care Certificate
• Anyone carrying out assessments for care planning, risk assessments etc.
• Anyone acting as a carer or planning for the future

The certification displaying the course content will demonstrate how National Occupational Standards have been met.
